Hurricane Lowell Bears Down on Western Hawaii A hurricane warning has been issued for western Hawaii's Kauai County as Category 3 hurricane Lowell approaches.
The National Weather Service warns of a potentially devastating storm that could bring significant threats to the region's sensitive ecosystem, including flash flooding, mudslides, and life threatening surf.
The warning area covers Kauai and Niihau islands, as well as parts of the Papahanaumokuakea Marine National Monument, a protected marine sanctuary known for its incredible biodiversity.
